Halloween isn't over yet, but holiday events near South Charlotte are already on the calendar. Here are a few to plan around, with dates and prices from the organizers.

Holiday Pottery Open House in Matthews (Sat., Nov. 7)

Simca Ceramics is holding its first Holiday Pottery Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seven local potters will sell holiday pieces and other work, and admission is free, according to Charlotte On The Cheap. That listing gives the address as 116 McKee Road, while the studio's contact page lists 3939 Campus Ridge Road in Matthews, so check with the studio before you go. More Matthews news.

Santa arrives at Bass Pro Shops Fort Mill (Sat., Nov. 7)

Santa makes his entrance at 5 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's stores, including the Fort Mill store at 1000 Cabelas Drive off I-77. The outdoor kickoff is free, with seasonal treats and a free mini reindeer plush while supplies last, Bass Pro Shops said. Starting Nov. 8 and running through Christmas Eve, families can get a free 4x6 photo with Santa and a shareable video. Reservations are free at basspro.com/santa, and walk-ins are taken as time allows. Charlotte On The Cheap notes the same events at the Concord Mills store.

Mecklenburg Interfaith Friendsgiving (Thu., Nov. 19)

The Mecklenburg Metropolitan Interfaith Network hosts its Friendsgiving dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heaton Hall, Myers Park Covenant Church, 1900 Queens Road. The evening includes food from many cultures, performances and conversation, per MeckMIN. Registration is required on a sliding scale ($25, $15 or $5), and no one is turned away because they can't pay, Charlotte On The Cheap reported. Guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation.

Gingerbread Lane at The Ballantyne (Dec. 13-27)

Gingerbread Lane returns to Ballantyne at The Ballantyne hotel, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Viewing is free, and you don't need to be a hotel guest. Entries compete in professional, amateur and child categories. You can vote for favorites with a donation of $1 or more per vote, which benefits Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital and also gets your parking validated. The Cocoa House serves hot cocoa and seasonal drinks from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Dec. 13-27, except Christmas Day, according to the hotel. The hotel's entry guidelines list display days as Dec. 13, 14, 16-24 and 26-27, so check before a Dec. 15 visit.
